Owning the MAGs in Next Year's Mid-Term Election
Trump's narrow House margin is vulnerable based on a hundred years of history, the hardships of his bumbling, and the growing contempt for his rape of the national treasury. Here's how to stop him.
The mid-term elections of November, 2026, are the best — and the last — opportunity to stop Donald Trump in his tracks. And the chances of pulling it off are realistically good. To get a handle on the likelihood of success, observe the playing field. It’s the House of Representatives.
The American voters have a powerful pattern of asking for their money back in the mid-term election after sending a new guy to the White House. Only twice in the past hundred years have Presidents gained seats in the House two years after their elections. One was Franklin Roosevelt, who earned a gain of nine House seats for his party in 1934 by pulling the country out of the Great Depression after his election in 1932, and the other was George W. Bush, whose response after the attacks of 9/11/01, less than a year after his election in 2000, brought him the gain of eight seats in 2002. In these years the average change of House support in the president’s first mid-term election was a loss of 25 seats, even including Roosevelt’s and Bush’s gains in the arithmetic. Trump’s current Republican margin is eight — 220 Republicans, 212 Democrats, and three vacancies in Districts that were carried by Democrats in 2024 who have died since then. That’s jeopardy.
More, in January of this year, ten days after Trump was sworn in and his daily dozens of bizarre Executive Orders were issued, the voters of Iowa’s 35th Senate District, a rural MAGA stronghold that went for him in November by a 12% margin, turned against him. The Iowans elected first time candidate Mike Zimmer, 64, a Democrat and a strong public-school advocate, by a margin of 4% over the Trump Republican. That’s a sixteen-point swing in ten days of Trump. Double jeopardy.
So, enough blame-placing and hand-wringing, you seventy-five million American Democrats, suck up your guts for the biggest challenge of your life. Grab a piece of the action and give your all to save and protect everything you have earned, and cherish, and love.
Here’s Trump’s game plan to keep control of the House in November, 2026, followed by the game plan that will return control of the House to American Democrats.

Trump knows that by this time next year the result of his theft of America’s treasures will have brought as much pain to the people who put him in the White House as they brought hope to the people who came close to keeping him out. He doesn’t care. He’ll still be big bucks up, but he’d like to get a lot more and he can’t keep getting it if he loses the House. His best chance of surviving the election is to have no election at all, to have only one name on each of the 435 ballots, the names of his brutal and Russia-loving MAGA candidates. To that end, his plan to save himself from an election that is fairly contested is to have no Democrats on the ballots. He intends to weaken the Democratic Party with constant lies, slander, and barnyard blame for his own mistakes. Then, no later than early 2026, he will declare the Democratic Party the “Enemy of the People” and banish Democratic candidates by Executive Order from appearing on any ballot in America, beginning with the ballots of November, 2026.
Our tactical reaction to that must be to confront his game plan with one that shows the American Democrats as too numerically enormous, too politically cohesive, and too unnervingly decent to be unhorsed by his signature on a piece of paper. He may still try to do it just that way, but we can have a critical mass of our team ready to stop him then, and on election day.
We can do that by telling the Democratic National Committee, the DNC, to stop promoting the party’s well-known political positions and stop asking for donations as though we’re the biblical poor begging for the alms of survival. Everybody already knows what our policies are and everyone is bored by their recitation. And as for the need for revenue, instead of waving an empty tin cup let’s raise big money by selling hot items of wearable appeal that make everybody see Democrats and Democracy as the sexy way to roll.
This will show the existence, the living, walking, breathing proof of the reality of the 75 Million Member Club of people who voted for the obscure Kamala Harris who held the famous Donald Trump to a margin of 1.5% that he achieved by suppressing more than four million votes, according to the U. S. Elections Assistance Commission.
Let’s Brand Up by creating an era of aggressive, sophisticated, and profitable marketing of our messages displayed on wearable materials bearing a flag-draped “American Democrats” logo in opposition to the all-red “Russian Republicans.” Not only are there are a lot of bumper stickers and billboards in those well-earned nicknames, there are also a lot of opportunities for showing celebrities wearing the logo as jewelry, pins, necklaces, headbands, ballcaps, buttons, jackets, swimsuits, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and maybe even underwear. All while producing stand-up videos and manuscripts of a photo-filled book of personal testimonials from ordinary people telling why they became Democrats and what it has meant to their lives.
Let’s own the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Day in local and national celebrations with cheerleaders, bands, and singers mounted on rolling floats, making of all these months to come an endless stream of pep rallies, in which we show our enthusiastic numbers and tell our messages. Let’s stop preaching and just show our hot and happy stuff for a change.
Let’s use our pedestals and podiums to feature leaders of organized labor and management discussing successful Biden-era contract agreements, feeding these as nuggets suitable for Apple News, Google News, and YouTube.
At the same time, the purely political tactics that will bring Trump to a standstill rest on an understanding that he and the Elon Muskrats are their own worst enemies. They need no help from Congressional Democrats to be seen as criminals performing as sinister clowns, other than to point out with unfailing good manners the deadly conflicts their proposals have with existing law, with normal behavior, with successful traditions, and with the Constitution. There is no need to bloviate back on the Great Bloviators. Simply showing how decent people have made, and can still make self-government work is enough.
Trump is transparently consumed by greed so great that it makes him incapable of moderation in any of his actions. The acts that feed his slobbering appetite are constantly colliding with a comical ignorance about the interlinked processes of the federal government that bring benefits to taxpayers who see them as sacred rights. Everything he does to demonstrate his disputable masculinity ends up hurting millions of MAGA people because the greatest expenditure of federal beneficence is, was, and always has been to bring relief to the people who live and work in the rural regions of the red states where MAGA is at its strongest.
As we show our support for the benefits that Trump’s ham-handed actions are costing people who deserve and need them, it gains us nothing to engage in Trumpian insults and invectives. We are better served by presenting ourselves as decent and polite, but happily unbending in defending self-government, which is called democracy. That’s how we win.
Let’s shoot pool, MAGA boys. Welcome to America’s Big Game played the way American Democrats know how to play it.
